This time National Testing Agency will be the regulatory body for NEET 2019 and for the first time they will determine the eligibility criteria of NEET 2019. Aspirants of NEET 2019 seeking admission to the different medical courses at undergraduate level are advised to check the eligibility criteria of NEET 2019.

Eligibility criteria of NEET 2019 will specify the age limit, academic qualifications, nationality and other requirements which must be fulfilled by all the aspirants. It will be held on May 5 in a single shift. Candidates who will not meet the eligibility criteria of NEET 2019 will become ineligible for the forthcoming sessions of the entrance exam.

Candidates who are Citizens of India as well as NRIs, PIOs, OCIs and foreign nationals are also eligible to give NEET 2019. Since NEET was made mandatory for those candidates who wish to study medicine abroad, therefore, such candidates are also required to fill the NEET 2019 application form. The eligibility criteria of NEET 2019 such as age requirement, educational qualification, and the number of attempts limit are given below.

Eligibility Criteria:



Qualifying Exam

12th or equivalent with Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Biotechnology and English as core subjects in both Classes 11 and 12 from a recognized board.

Min. Age Required

17 yrs. As on or before December 31, 2019.

Candidates must be born on or before January 1, 2003.

Max. Age Required

It should be not more than 25 years for unreserved category candidates and for reserved category and PwD category candidates not more than 30 years.


  • UR- 50%,

  • OBC/SC/ST- 40%,

  • PWD- 45% (minimum aggregate marks only for PCB subjects)

Maximum Attempts

No limit on the permitted number of attempts.


Indian Nationals, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs & Foreign Nationals

As per the eligibility criteria of NEET 2019 a candidates are required to complete 17 years, either at the time of admission or else on or before December 31, 2019. Those candidates who belong to unreserved category must not be more than 25 years to fulfill the NEET eligibility criteria 2019 for February session, and for the reserved categories and PwD category candidates must not be more than of 30 years. Upper age limit norm of NEET has been challenged in the Supreme Court but no final decision has been taken yet on the same.
