SSC JE Selection Procedure 2018: Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will announce the selection procedure for SSC JE 2018 recruitment process. Candidates will have to clear all the stages of SSC JE selection procedure in order to be shortlisted for the post of Junior Engineers group B Non-Gazetted in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Quality and Quantity Assurance in Central Government departments. The selection process of SSC JE consists of 5 stages, filling up the application form, appearing for paper 1 followed by paper 2, document verification and allotment to the posts. The final selection of candidates will be done on the basis of their performance in paper 1 and 2. Those candidates who qualify SSC JE 2018 will be appointed at the post of Junior Engineers in different departments as per their preference. Candidates participating in SSC JE 2018 recruitment will be selected on the basis of their performance in the written examination. The exam of SSC JE 2018 is conducted in two stages – preliminary and mains. The preliminary exam is the primary stage and only those candidates who qualify the prelims exam will be eligible to appear for the mains exam. The selection procedure of SSC JE 2018 comprises 5 stages, aspirants will have to ensure they clear all the stages in order to be selected. Read th details of all the 5 stages as given below.
Stage 1: Application Form
The first step of the SSC JE 2018 selection process is filling up the application form. The SSC JE application form will be made available on October 14, 2017 and the last date for online registration is November 10. The application form can be filled online and candidates will have to pay Rs.100/- as application fees. The application fees of SSC JE 2018 can be paid through online and offline mode. Those candidate who submit their application fees without the payment of application fees will not be allowed to participate in the recruitment process and their applications will be rejected by the commission. SSC will issue the SSC JE admit card to all those candidates whose applications will be accepted by the commission for the next stage.
Stage 2: Appear for SSC JE Paper 1
SSC will conduct the written examination for SSC JE 2018 in two stages, paper 1 and 2. Paper 1 of SSC JE will be the second stage under the selection procedure of SSC JE. Paper 1 is held online and the SSC JE question paper consists of three sections – General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, and General Engineering (Civil/Electrical/Mechanical). The total marks for paper 1 of SSC JE is 200 and the duration of exam is of 2 hours. Check the paper pattern of SSC JE paper 1 for better understanding. There is negative marks of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper 1.

Stage 3: Appearing in Paper 2 exam
Candidates qualifying paper 1 of SSC JE 2017 will be eligible to appear for paper 2. The dates for paper 2 have not been announced. As per the SSC JE exam pattern, paper will be conducted offline and consist of conventional paper. Paper 2 will comprise of Part-A General Engineering (Civil & Structural) Or Part- B General Engineering (Electrical) Or Part-C General Engineering (Mechanical). Stage 4: Document Verification
Candidates who qualify paper 1 and 2 of SSC JE will be called for stage 4 of SSC JE selection procedure i.e. document verification. Admission of qualified candidates at this stage is purely provisional and subjected to their satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. During document verification of SC JE, candidates will have to report to the centres with all the documents uploaded in the application form. At the time of verification after the written examination, it is found that the candidates do not fulfil any of the eligibility conditions, their candidature for the examination will be cancelled by the commission.
Stage 5: Allotment to the various posts
Once the candidates, have clared all the above 4 stages, they will appear for the final stage of SSC JE selection procedure i.e. final allotment. SSC will prepare a merit list on the basis of the marks scored by candidates in Paper 1 and 2 exam. As per marks, ranks will be allotted to candidates. Allotment to the various posts will be done amongst the candidates in the merit list
Candidates, who are appointed on the basis of SSC JE exam shall be on probation for a period of two years. Candidates during the period of probation will have to undergo training or pass qualifying exam as prescribed by the Controlling Authority. On successful completion of the period of probation, the candidates will be considered for permanent appointment.
