IBPS PO 2019 Syllabus

Introduction: Institute for Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts this exam for recruiting Probationary Officers (PO) in various public-sector banks in India. Total number of vacancies this year is expected to be more than 4000. The mode of examination is online. The examination is conducted in two parts:

  • IBPS PO Preliminary Exam

  • IBPS PO Mains Exam

Preliminary exam of IBPS PO 2019 is to be tentatively scheduled on the following dates of the month of October 13th, 14th, 20th and 21st and the Mains exam on the date of November 18th. IBPS conducts this process of recruitment annually. Online registration commences in July 2019 and remains open for duration of 30 days.

Prelims qualifiers will then need to appear for the Tier-II i.e. IBPS PO 2019 Mains exam. Candidates will further have to appear in a Personal Interview (PI) round comprising of 100 marks.

IBPS PO Marking Scheme:

  • Every correct answer gets awarded with 1 mark.

  • The negative marking scheme entails that for every wrong answer 1/4th of a mark will be deducted.

  • No negative or positive marking for un-attempted questions.

  • The above marking scheme is same for Tier I and Tier II, Prelims and Mains respectively.


IBPS PO 2019 has 3 stages in all. These stages are as follows-

  • IBPS PO Prelims Exam

  • IBPS PO Mains Exam

  • Personal Interview (PI)- Candidates are to be evaluated on the basis of their general information, skills, abilities and communication skills. This round is the final stage. The round is of 100 marks and is given 20% weightage in the complete recruitment process.
