IBPS Clerk Eligibility Criteria 2019

Introduction: Institute for Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts this exam for recruiting Clerical Cadre in various public-sector banks in India. The total number of vacancies this year is expected to be more than 7000. The mode of examination is online. The examination is conducted in two parts:

A preliminary exam of IBPS Clerk 2019 is to be tentatively scheduled for the month of December in 2019 and the Mains exam in the month of January of the year 2020. IBPS conducts this process of recruitment annually. Online registration commences in the 3rd week of August 2019 and remains open for the duration of 30 days.

IBPS Clerk 2019 Eligibility Criteria:

IBPS lays down the eligibility conditions for IBPS Clerk 2019. In cases where any candidate does not meet any of the laid down specific conditions at any stage of the Common Recruitment Process, the candidature of the candidate is liable to be rejected immediately. The basic eligibility criteria pertaining to parameters: nationality, age limit and academic qualification of a candidate applying for IBPS Clerk 2019 are mentioned below-


To appear for IBPS Clerk 2019, a candidate must be any of the following:

  • Citizen of India

  • Subject of Nepal or Bhutan

  • Tibetan refugee who is permanently settled in India prior to January 1, 1962

  • Person of Indian origin who has migrated from either Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Zaire, or Zambia with the intention of residing permanently in India.

Academic Qualification

  • Graduate or equivalent degree in any of the disciplines from a university recognized by Government of India.

  • Candidates of General category must score minimum 60% marks while there is a relaxation of 5% for candidates of reserved categories.

  • Results of the respective qualifying examination should be declared by or before September 2019.

  • Knowledge of computer systems is mandatory. Degree/ Diploma or any other certification for computer systems is required or computer as a subject 9th or 10th standard.

  • Proficiency in UT/State language, chosen by the candidate.


Age Limit

  • A lower limit of General category is 20 years whereas Upper limit is 28 years, as on August 1, 2019.
