KCET Reservation Criteria 2019

KCET Reservation Criteria 2019- Karnataka Common Entrance Test known as KCET is a state level entrance exam conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority every year. Karnataka Examination Authority retains some seat for providing admission to the other reserved categories as per KCET Reservation Criteria 2019. The seats are reserved for special categories.Those candidates who tend to apply for admission in participating institutes of Karnataka Common Entrance Test will get benefited by the KCET Seats Reservation 2019. This article will ensure candidates about the full knowledge about the KCET reservation criteria 2019.

  • To avail the benefit of KCET reservation Criteria 2019, candidates must belong to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC) of citizens under categories 1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B, physically disabled, defence categories or few other.

  • The special category candidates must produce ‘Caste Certificate/ Caste Income Certificate’ issued by the concerned Jurisdictional Tahsildar during document verification to get the benefits of the KCET Reservation Criteria 2019.

KCET Reservation Criteria of Seat for different Special Category Candidates

KCET Reservation Criteria of Seat define the number of seats that reserved in government and private/institutions by KEA which are relevant and appropriate to the candidates belonging from the special categories. The candidates who fall under any of Special Category and have valid supporting documents to claim their reservation can avail the benefit by mentioning their category while filling the application form of KCET 2019. Reservations of the seat for KCET 2019 against different special categories are narrated below:-

Reservation of Seats for Special Categories in KCET 2019

Reservation for certain special categories in KCET 2019 such as NCC,  Scouts and Guides, Sports,Defence, Ex-defence, Physically Handicapped, Anglo-Indian, Central Armed Police Force and Ex-Central Armed Police Force as narrated below in detail.

For NCC Category

  1. Applicants participated in Republic Day Camp (which is conducted by the Director General of NCC, New Delhi from Karnataka) and those who possess ‘B’ Certificate obtained during the 5 year period of study in Karnataka (8th and 12th standards).

  2. Applicants who have participated in the following camps conducted by the Director General of NCC, New Delhi from Karnataka and who possess ‘B’ Certificate obtained during the 5 year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards given as;

  • All India Thal Sainik Camp (Boys)-TSC (B)

  • All India Thal Sainik Camp (Girls)-TSC (G)

  • All India Nau Sainik Camp–NSC

  • All India Vayu Sainik Camp–VSC

  • Applicants selected as a part of DG NCC team to participate in All India Movalankar Shooting Championship at National Level AND Youth Exchange Programmes and Foreign Naval Cruise organised by DG, NCC.

  1. Applicants participated in the following camps conducted by the Director General of NCC, New Delhi from Karnataka and who possess ‘B’ Certificate obtained during the 5 year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards given as:

  • All India Thal Sainik Camp (Boys)-TSC (B)

  • All India Thal Sainik Camp (Girls)-TSC (G)

  • All India Nau Sainik Camp-NSC

  • All India Vayu Sainik Camp–VSC

  • Cadets participate in All India Movalankar Shooting Championship as a part of KAR and GOA Director Team and Mountaineering Expeditions (over 5900 Mtrs), Motor Cycle Expeditions (more than 3500 KMs), Cycling Expeditions (more than 1500 KMs) and Sailing Expeditions using wind power only (401 KMs), organized by DG, NCC / NCC Director of Karnataka & Goa.

  1. Applicants participated in the following camps/courses conducted by the Director General of NCC, New Delhi from Karnataka and who possess ‘B’ Certificate obtained during the 5 year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards given as:

  • NIC

  • Trekking

  • Mountaineering

  • BLC

  • ALC

  • RCTC

  • Army, Navy, Air Force & Hospital Attachments.

  1. Applicants who possess “B” certificate obtained during the five‐year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th Standards

For the selection of a reserved seat under NCC category, the preferential criteria are as given follows:

  1. First preference for the candidates having ‘B’ Certificate and adjudged overall All India Best Cadet with Gold / Silver / Bronze medal in the Republic Day camp.

  2. Second preference for the candidates possessing B’ certificate and adjudged overall All India Best Cadet with Gold / Silver / Bronze medal in camps mentioned at (a) to (e) of sub-clause (2) above.

  3. Third preference for those possessing ‘B’ certificate holders who have participated in the Youth Exchange Programmes and Foreign Naval Cruise organized by DG, NCC.

  4. Fourth preference for the candidates having ‘B’ certificate holders participated from Karnataka in the Republic Day camp.

  5. Fifth preference for the candidates having ‘B’ Certificate holders who have participated from Karnataka in the camps mentioned at (a) to (e) of sub-clause (3) above.

  6. Sixth preference for the candidates having ‘B’ Certificate holders who have participated in the mountaineering /sailing/motorcycle/ cycling expeditions organized by DG NCC / NCC Directorate of KAR and GOA.

  7. Seventh preference for those having ‘B’ Certificate holders who have participated in the camps mentioned at (g) to (m) of subclause (4) para above.

  8. Eighth preference for the candidates s possessing ONLY ‘B’ Certificate (NCC candidates possessing only ’B’ certificate).

For Scouts and Guides

Reservation seats for Scouts and Guides Special Category are as given below:

  1. Applicants who as “Scouts /Guides”, have received the “President’s Award” during 5 year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards.

  2. President’s Award” certificate for verification of documents along with other certificates should be mandatory.

  3. Candidates belonging to Scouts & Guides will be the allotment for seats as per their merit order ONLY in the general Admission Round along with the other General Merit and Reserved Category candidates.

Sports

  1. The candidates' acquired medals/cups or represented the nation in SUPER-A Games between 8thand 12th standards in the duration of 5 years of study in Karnataka.

  2. The candidate's acquired medals/cups and represented the nation in ‘A-Games’ between 8th and 12th standards in the duration of 5 years of study in Karnataka.

  3. The Candidates represented Karnataka state and acquired medals/cups in ‘B-Games’ and took part in SUPER-A Games and A-Games between 8th and 12th standards in the duration of 5 years of study in Karnataka.

  4. The Candidates achieved medals/cups and represented Karnataka in ‘B-Games’ between 8th and 12th standards in the duration of 5 years of study in Karnataka.

  5. The Candidates in any sports/games in ‘B-Games’ represented Karnataka state between 8th and 12th standards in the duration of 5 years of study in Karnataka

Defence

  • Son or daughter of Defence Personnel falling under Eligibility clauses (e), (f) and (g) will be allotment of seats under Defence.

  1. Applicants under Eligibility Clause (e) should produce the certificate of employment issued by the Controlling Office in the prescribed format.

  2. Applicants under Eligibility Clause (f) should produce the certificate from the Record Office of the Defence Unit in the prescribed format.

  3. Applicants under Eligibility Clause (g) should produce the certificate from the Controlling Office in the prescribed format.

  • Defence personnel for the purpose from these clauses means a person in Defence Service including Personnel belonging to Civil GT COYS ASC who were Civilian Class ‘III’ or Class ‘IV’ Government servants and ‘Border Roads Organisation Personnel’.

Ex-defence

  1. Son or daughter of Ex-Servicemen falling under Eligibility Clause (h) can obtain a certificate showing the home address of parent issued by the Joint Director/Deputy Director of the concerned district or countersigned by the Director, Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement, Bangalore, failing which they will not be allowed for verification of certificates and also for the later allotment of seats under Ex-Defence.

  2. Ex-Servicemen for the purpose of this clause include personnel belonging to the Civil GT COYS ASC who were Civilian Class III or Class IV Government Servants, who became permanently disabled or were killed during hostilities.

Physically Handicapped

  1. The candidates under this category will be required to appear for Medical examination before a Committee comprising of the Executive Director, KEA as Chairman and three specialists from the Department of Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, and ENT, nominated by the Government.

  2. Physical disability candidates ranging above 40% should produce a Medical certificate issued by competent Doctor of any Government Hospital located in the State of Karnataka in the field of concerned disability, on the day of Medical examination.

  3. Hearing disability candidates should compulsorily obtain and produce a BSER (Brain Stem Evoked Response) Audiometry report from All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, Mysore/Manipal Hospital/NIMHANS, Bangalore/Government Speech and Hearing Institute, Lingarajapuram, Bangalore.

  4. The Medical Board will examine the applicant, certificate and certify regarding the percentage of disability and the decision of the Medical Board is final.

  5. For the purpose of this proviso, persons with disability shall have the same meaning assigned to it, in the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Participation) Act 1995 (Central Act 1 / 1995).

Anglo-Indian

  1. Applicants from Anglo-Indian Community certificate issued by the Registered Association of the Anglo Indian Community in the State of Karnataka countersigned by the Anglo-Indian MLA Nominated by the Government, failing for which they will not be allowed for the later allotment of seats under the Anglo-Indian category.

Central Armed Police Force

  1. Applicants claiming eligibility under Clause (o) should produce a certificate from the Record Office of the CAPF Unit in the prescribed format.

Ex-Central Armed Police Force

  1. Applicants under Clause (o) should produce a certificate from the Record Office of the CAPF Unit in the prescribed format.

Hyderabad Candidate Reservation

  1. Hyderabad-Karnataka Region comprising the districts of Bidar, Gulbarga, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal, and Bellary shall be regarded as the local area.

  2. 70% of the available seats in every course in any regional University or educational institution located in the places referred above in the local area shall be reserved in the favor of local persons, in respect of University or educational institution.

  3. 8% of the available seats in every course provided in a statewide University or a statewide educational institution are allocated among the local candidates of the Hyderabad-Karnataka Region.

  4. The eligible candidates should produce The Relevant certificate issued by the concerned Assistant Commissioner should be produced by the applicants during document verification to become eligible to claim seat under Hyderabad-Karnataka Reservation as per rules.

Rural Candidates Reservation

  1. From total the 15% of the Government seats will be reserved horizontally in favour of rural applicants who have studied for 10 full academic years from 1st Standard to 10th Standard in educational institutions situated in State of Karnataka other than larger urban area, smaller urban area or transitional area as mentioned in Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964 or Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, 1976 in according to Government Order No. ED 01 TEC 2002, Bangalore, dated 01-02-2002 and the eligibility criteria shall be as defined in the Karnataka Reservation of Appointments of Posts in the Civil services of the State for Rural applicant Act, 2000 (Karnataka Act 1 of 2001).

  2. The Applicant whose parents do not come under the creamy layer and the applicant who have studied 10 full academic years from 1st Standard to 10th Standard.

Kannada Medium Candidates Reservation

  1. From the total, the 5% of the Government seats will be reserved horizontally in favor of the Kannada medium applicants who have studied 10 full academic years in Kannada medium from 1st Standard to 10th Standard according to the Government Order No. ED 118 UEC 2000, Bangalore dated on 04-06-2000 and as amended vide Government Order No. ED 02 UEC 2002, Bangalore dated 14-10-2005.

  2. Applicants including General Merit are eligible for Supernumerary quota seats.

  3. Applicants who claim seat under “Supernumerary Quota” will have to produce an income certificate from the concerned Tahasildar.

Reservation for Ward of Jammu & Kashmiri Migrants

  1. Son/daughter of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants who satisfy the Jammu & Kashmiri migrants eligibility criteria can also apply.

Documents Required for KCET Reservation Categories 2019

Applicants have to produce a “Caste Certificate and Caste Income Certificate”, issued by the concerned Jurisdictional Tahasildar as per the Government order No. Sa Ka E 225 BCA 2002 dated March 30, 2002, and No. Sa Ka E 104 BCA 2011 dated 06-02-2012 as amended from time to time. As per the guidelines, income certificate is valid for a period of 5 years.
