JEE Main Exam Pattern 2019

JEE MAIN EXAM PATTERN 2019 :

National Testing Agency (NTA), the exam conducting body has released JEE Main exam pattern for 2019. The JEE Main examination unlike the JEE Advanced exam has a fixed exam structure and is not subject to change every year.The paper one of the JEE Main exam will be held online (computer-based mode) while Paper 2 will be conducted partly online (mathematics and aptitude test) and partly offline (drawing test). The total duration of the exam will be three hours.The paper one will be conducted in two sittings, i.e. from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM while the paper two will be held in one shift only.The exam will be conducted twice in a year initiating from the year 2019 according to the latest amendments made by NTA.

Both the Papers one and two are segmented into three sections. The Paper one of the exam comprises of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics section while the Paper two covers the Aptitude, Mathematics and Drawing section.Also, both the papers consists of multiple choice questions.Candidates may opt for either or both of them. Paper one targets the admission to B.E./B.Tech courses and is conducted in online mode while the Paper two is for admission in B.Arch and B.Planning courses.

Henceforth, according to the marking scheme of JEE Main exam pattern 2019 four marks will be provided for each correct answer while One mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer given.

The medium of the question papers will be in English, Hindi & Gujarati languages respectively. The first session of the JEE Main exam will be held from 6th January to 20th January 2019 in a total of 8 sittings while the second session will be held in the month of April between 6th April to 20th April 2019.

 

JEE Main Paper 1(B.Tech/B.E.) Exam Pattern Details :

1. Sections :

Part I - Physics

Part II - Chemistry

Part III - Mathematics

2. Number of Questions – 90 questions with each section comprising of 30 questions each.

3. Type of Questions – Objective type

4. Mode of Examination – Preferences between Online (CBT) or Offline mode (PBT)

5. Duration of Examination – 3 hours for all except for students with 40% disability - 4 hours

6. Medium of Examination – The question papers at all exam centers will be in Hindi and English and for examination centres in Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, the medium of examination will also be available in Gujarati.

7. Marking Scheme – Every question carry 4 marks each and for every wrong answer, 1/4th marks of the total marks given will be deducted.

8. This examination will be conducted online

9. This paper 1 exam is given to get admission to UG Engineering courses.

 JEE Main Paper 2 (B.Arch/ B.Planning)Exam Pattern Details :

1. Sections :

Part I – Mathematics – Objective type questions

Part II – Aptitude Test – Objective type questions

Part III – Drawing Test – Questions based on drawing

2. Number of Questions – 82 questions.

3. Duration of Examination – 3 Hours

4. Medium of Examination – Hindi and English

5. Marking Scheme – All questions in Mathematics and Aptitude section carry equal weightage which is 4 marks each and questions based on drawing carry a total of 70 marks.

6. Negative Marking – For every wrong answer, 1/4thmark of the total marks given will be deducted and for JEE Main Drawing Test, marks will be given on the basis of the candidate’s drawing skills.

             7. This examination will be conducted partially online and rest in offline mode.

8. This paper 2 exam is given to get admission to UG architecture courses.

Some essential points to remember according to the JEE Main Exam Pattern 2019 :

1. Students appearing for the JEE Main Paper two exam should have their own stationary handy like the geometry box set, pencils, erasers or crayons etc.

2. Students should check that both the sides of the question paper (side-1 & side-2) are matching as soon as they receive it because they will be given 5 minutes before they actuallystart the test and in case there is a mismatch, it should be reported to the examiner and the question paper should be replaced.

3. Students will be allowed to carry any cardboard or a clip board to the exam hall as a writing pad to keep the exam paper on it in order to write smoothly but that should be blank or unscribbled.

4. Students will be facilitated with ball point pens in the examination hall and hence they do not require to carry the same.

5. Students will also be facilitated with extra sheets and rough sheets to work out the calculations or any other rough work whenever they require during the exam. However, The student should return these sheets to the examiner before leaving the examination hall.

6. Students should reach the examination centres at least half an hour before time to avoid any delays.

7. Students should carry their admit cards with them on the day of examination.

Rules and Regulations for the Scribes according to the JEE Main Exam Pattern 2019 :

1. Aspirants who have 40% or more disability and have applied under the PwD category will be given a scribe/reader on request.

2. Students will be allowed to have their own scribe or reader on request. They can also submit a request to the centre superintendent for the same.

3. The centre superintendent will identify the scribe/reader. Candidates can also meet the scribe a day before the examination to verify the suitability of the scribe on request.

4. An extra time of one hour will be given to PwD candidates irrespective of the fact that candidates are availing the facility of a scribe/reader.
