JEE Main Eligibility Criteria: To clear the doubts of candidates NTA has declared the eligibility criteria for jee main 2019. Candidates who are going to fill JEE Main Application form need to check the eligibility criteria first, only those candidates who are met with the set parameters of JEE Main eligibility criteria are eligible for the registration process and the exam. The JEE Main 2019 Exam for April session will be held between 7th April to 12th April 2019. The National Test Agency has released the Application form on 8th February 2019. As per the NTA guidance, it is necessary to check eligibility criteria parameters like Age limit, Required Qualification, Required Marks & percentage, Nationality, Subjects, Number of Attempts and required documents.
As we all know the exam conducting authority has changed so it is important for candidates to go through the eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2019. The exam will be held on two session- January session and April session, Candidates can appear in both sessions as per their convenience. Eligibility criterion, for an exam, is the minimum requirements which candidates must meet, to be allowed to write the exam. Those who will fail to fulfill these demands will be forbidden from writing the paper. Since the conducting body determines all the aspects of the exam eligibility criteria is also decided by it. In the case of JEE Main, National Test Agency (NTA) is responsible for determining all the aspects, Details of JEE Main Eligibility criteria, are as below.
The candidates are eligible for the JEE Main 2019 on the basis of the following provided parameters:
No age limit. Candidates need to pass 12th or the equivalent exam in 2017 or 2018 and candidates appearing for 12th or equivalent exam in 2019 are also eligible
Mandatory to have 5 subjects in 12th standard or equivalent qualifying exam-
No. of attempts
Attempts can be done in 3 consecutive years. And candidates can appear in both the attempts of that very year. The attempt of that academic year is considered one.
12th standard or any other equivalent exam by Central/ State board- CBSE, ICSE, Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi etc.
Intermediate/Pre-University Course/Pre-Degree Course examination
Final examination- Joint Services Wing (NDA).
Voc. Exam- H.S.C.
NIO- Senior Secondary School Examination (min. 5 subjects).
AICTE/State board of technical educational-Diploma (3 years).
AIU school/board/university examination in India/ foreign country equivalent to the 12th standard exam.
GCE exam (London/ Cambridge/ Sri Lanka) at Advanced (A) level; for only IITs.
HSCE- Cambridge University/International Baccalaureate Diploma; for only IITs.
Candidates must have passed 12th standard in 2017 or 2018. Candidates appearing for 12th or equivalent exam in 2019 are eligible. The candidates with earlier passing of these exams are not eligible. The Candidates failing in 12th standard in 2016, appearing in 2017 and passed are not eligible.
The five mandatory subjects for B.Tech/ B.E. are:
Physics (compulsory for B.Arch.)
Mathematics (compulsory for B.Tech & B.Arch. both)
Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational Subject
Any other subject
Candidates appearing for 4 subjects in their qualifying exam are not eligible for IIT JEE 2019. The subjects apart from these are not eligible subjects for the application: Physics, Mathematics (compulsory for B.Arch), Language, Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/Technical Vocational Subject, any other subject.
Pass percentage: The IIT JEE Main 2019 eligibility criteria doesn’t release any percentage for application for the exam. The depends on the state-wise percentages hence no specific percentage is kept for the IIT JEE eligibility criteria Main 2019.
Aadhaar Card: If there is no presence of Adhar card with the candidate then he or she can use the following identity proofs:
Any other valid Govt. identity number.
Candidate needs to have secured a minimum 75% marks in class XII or equivalent exam or be in the top 20 percentile in your class XII exam conducted by the respective board for B.TECH or B.E programme.
For SC/ ST candidates, the eligibility criteria are to secure 65% marks in class XII or equivalent exam.
Candidates who want to pursue B.Arch or B.Planning must be secured 75% marks in class 12th along with Mathematics subject.
Droppers are classified into 2 categories.
Dropping and preparing needs to be sufficient enough to show the hard work to get admissions into IIT, NIT, IIIT or CFTIs.
No age limit.
Completion of the 12th standard qualifying examination in 2017 or 2018.
Dropped candidates of 2nd category attempting IIT JEE should be there.
For NITs, IIITs and CFTIs- minimum 75% or be in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards
For SC/ST category- minimum 65%.
At the very least 5 subjects and Physics and Mathematics must be compulsory for 12th standard or equivalent exam.
After being eligible for the IIT JEE 2019 the except for the percentage for admissions into NITs, IIITs and CFTIs, the candidates are then allowed for the improvement exam.
Improvement in 1 or more subject – In the improvement in 2019 for one subject, the top 20 percentile of 2018 is to be considered. The calculation is done according to the maximum marks obtained in the respective subjects
Improvement in all subjects – Here in this case best of both the years is to be considered.
